What is Bach Flower Therapy and how can it help?
Nowadays natural remedies are widespread, but many people still don’t know what Bach Flower Therapy really is!
Bach-Flower Therapy is the brainchild of Dr Edward Bach (1986-1936), an English surgeon, bacteriologist and homeopath. He began in 1928 to discover the first half of the flowers, followed by others over the years, from which he prepared his essences, first by the sun-drench method and later by the boiling method. The doctor realised that it was not only diseases that needed to be treated. He believed in finding ways to deal with the negative moods and emotions that were primarily responsible for the deterioration of health.
Bach-Flower Essences have a positive effect at the level of the soul, which means that they do not treat symptoms like conventional medicines, but harmonise the upset state of mind. We distinguish 38+1 essences, each of them solving a different negative state of mind. The 38 essences have a wide range of effects, from self-doubt to depression, from fears to letting go, and help for a variety of psychological difficulties. And the 39th Essence, also known as Rescue Remedy, is actually a special blend of 5 flowers, more about which you can read in another blog post.
Bach-flowers have no side effects and are effective in treating animals and plants, and it’s good news that they can also be taken by people with pollen allergies. The flower essences can be used by anyone regardless of training, but if you are not familiar with the flowers or have a more complex problem, it is recommended that you choose an experienced counsellor.
It is important to note that the original Bach-Flower Therapy is based on a narrative, and does not involve card drawing, testing or shaking.
In Hungary we can buy flower essences from several manufacturers:
1. A. Nelson & Co Ltd.
You can buy original Bach-flower essences and RESCUE® products from them. To this day, these essences are still made according to Dr Bach’s instructions and the flowers are collected in the places he has specified.
2. Ulmus Kft.
Ulmus Ltd. is a Hungarian manufacturer, their essences are made in Hungary from plants living in Hungary, based on the recipes of Dr. Bach.
3. Lemon Pharma GmbH & Co. kg
Lemon Pharma is a German manufacturing company, most of the flowers are collected from England and produced in the way Dr Bach specified.
There are of course other manufacturers of flower essences, such as the French company DEVA or the British company Healingherbs Ltd., but there are also many other companies that offer a range of products.
